The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, holds a history of over 4,000 years and is renowned as the longest holiday in China. In the 21st century, this national celebration commences on the first day of the Lunar Calendar and extends until the 15th day of the first month. In 2021, the Chinese New Year will commence on February 12th and conclude on February 26th with the Lantern Festival. During the first five days of the Spring Festival, all stores in China remain closed, with some reopening only towards the end. The festivities continue for up to 16 days, although only the initial 7 days are designated as a public holiday (February 11th–17th, 2021).

Chinese cuisine places great emphasis on the harmony of color, fragrance, and taste in its dishes. Chinese chefs strive to create visually appealing meals by carefully coordinating the colors of the ingredients. Some dishes may appear simple, while others are vibrant and eye-catching.
